Comfort and Convenience
The SL350AC Stair Lift is engineered with a carriage that is pre-installed on a 2 foot section of the durable extruded aluminum track. The backrest has three different settings, and the fold-up footrest adjusts to two different heights for the utmost in custom comfort. The spacious, wide seat features thick padding and attractive upholstery.
When you need a good, economical, dependable workhorse that is inexpensive and easy to install, look no further than the Harmar SL350-AC stair lift. This model runs off direct low voltage current and has no circuit board to fail. This is the unit that is most commonly recommended for basement or garage applications. It is also a popular choice for short-term use due to its low cost.
There are three different seating options. The standard seat has ¾ length (non-folding arms) with a large rocker switch located at the end of the armrest. A right hand switch is standard but it can be ordered with the switch in either armrest. There is also a model with flip up arms and uses a pendant style switch. A seat with flip up arms is generally used by someone transferring from a wheelchair or in cases where larger boxes or laundry baskets are being transported on the seat or rider’s lap.
For those looking for “more comfort”, a wide seat option is available as well. *When installing the unit with a wide seat, the track will need to moved an additional 2 ½ inches to allow the seat to swivel at the top. There are also 3 colors available. The standard (as seen in the pictures) is the Almond. The other choices include Mocha (a milk chocolate brown) and Evergreen (street sign green). There are also several positions the seat back can be placed to maximize comfort based on an individual’s height.
The drive mechanism for this stair lift is nothing more than a simple winch design. The loose end of the cable is secured to the top of the track. As the cable comes off of the drum, the chair simply rolls down the track via gravity. The winch then winds the chair back up to the top of the track when activated. There are numerous safety devices that are included with this system. Each unit comes with a seat belt, safety sensors around the footrest, constant pressure controls, and the seat swivels (and locks into position) at 45 and 90 degrees.
Once your order is placed, the tracks are cut to spec at the factory in the Lake Winnebago facility (Kansas City area) and is shipped directly to your door via FedEx. There are basically 4 pieces that get assemble. Two pieces of track, a motor assembly, and a seat. Several brackets hold the unit in place and are usually screwed into the first, firth, eighth, and eleventh steps. The unit plugs into a standard wall outlet. The installation project is typically a three-hour job. For those who install these routinely, it is done in just a little over an hour.
Maintenance over time may require replacing the wheels on the chassis, greasing the wheel channels with white lithium spray grease, and perhaps changing out the motor brushes. Nothing difficult to do. *Wheels and motor brushes are considered wear and tear items and are not covered by the warranty. This maintenance is generally done every 6-8 years depending on the weight of the rider, the length of track, and the total amount of use per month.
